Calgary iconic Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar celebrates 10 years at the CORE with the Rocky Mountain Manhattan

Calgary and Hy’s go back a long way. To 1955, in fact, when Hy Aisenstat opened the first Hy’s Steakhouse over a women’s dress shop in the heart of downtown. Since then, they’ve moved around a bit, but stayed true to their hometown.

This fall, Hy’s celebrates 10 years at the CORE. Still family owned, and thoughtfully re-imagined reflecting a storied history and a vision for the future, Hy’s remains Calgary’s premier steakhouse. Often imitated, never matched.

In honor of this latest milestone, Hy’s has partnered with Reifel Rye to create a unique cocktail experience that’s perfect for celebrating. A barrel-aged take on the classic, the Rocky Mountain Manhattan is a spirited sip that beautifully showcases the best of Alberta. Combining the deep character of the local proprietary rye with amaro, sweet vermouth and drops of black cherry brandy, this is a martini for the ages. Hints of toffee, cherry, vanilla and chocolate linger on the palate with warm complexity. Both masters of their craft, Reifel and Hy’s are a perfect match.

Visit Hy’s during September and raise a toast to this special anniversary with a Rocky Mountain Manhattan. A portion of each drink sold will be donated to the John Aisenstat Memorial Award, created for Hospitality and Culinary students at SAIT.
