Birds of a feather, flock together

One of Calgary’s most innovative chefs is at it again! Andrea Harling, who recently launched L’il Black Rooster in the Calgary West Farmers’ Market is opening a cozy breakfast and lunch concept right on 17th  Avenue, across from Tompkins Park. The Sweatered Hen will serve breakfast and brunch, lunch, snacks, coffees and cocktails in their beautiful newly renovated room located at 819 – 17th Avenue SW. Doors open on April 13, 2024.

Chef Harling has long believed that a good breakfast can not only change your day but can actually change the world. Her sense of community, care and focus on her craft ensures her meals are hearty, wholesome and downright delicious with a goal to create almost everything in-house. She’s pulling out all of her family’s favourite recipes to share with Calgary, such as her grandmother’s cheese biscuits, house made jams and jellies and an entire menu of beloved breakfast and lunch dishes. The Sweatered Hen’s sister operation, L’il Black Rooster, is Calgary’s newest and busiest sandwich shop and many of your favourite items will also be available at The Sweatered Hen.

The Sweatered Hen takes over the VBurger location in the heart of the Red Mile. VBurger will continue as an innovative plant-based burger concept and will continue to be available on all delivery apps. Andrea Harling’s buzzy L’il Black Rooster is open and killing it at the new Calgary West Farmers’ Market. Chef Harling aspires to create exceptional culinary experiences for her guests, but it’s more than that. It’s about spreading love through the power of food, hospitality and grace. Every bite tells a story of what food means to her, and she can’t wait to share her vision with you.
