This is a variation of a recipe created by Stephanie Kolk at Kayben Farms in Okotoks. Add a few drops of sesame oil, use soy sauce instead of salt and lime juice instead of lemon to dress a killer Asian slaw or mixed melon and jicama salad.

Cilantro Vinaigrette


  • 1 cup fresh cilantro, use the trimmed stems too if they aren’t bitter
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice, fresh squeezed
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 3-4 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup good canola oil (Highwood Crossing)
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Combine all ingredients except oil in a blender or food processor. An immersion blender works well for smaller amounts.
  •  Gradually add the oil as you are processing. Season to taste.
