Cranberry sauce is a must when serving turkey for the holidays. While it’s perfectly acceptable to open up a can, making it from scratch is so easy! Use fresh or frozen cranberries plus a couple additional ingredients to transform this sauce into a tasty condiment.

Cranberries are tart and need sugar to balance out the flavours. This Sweet and Spicy Cranberry Sauce gets turned up a notch with the addition of a fresh jalapeno pepper. The heat is in the seeds so if you don’t want it too spicy, be sure to remove all of them. The jalapeno is sliced in half and added to the mixture making it easy to pull out before it’s time to serve.

Fresh or frozen cranberries will pop and burst when heated releasing pectin into the liquid they are cooking in providing a natural thickener. Once you’re ready to serve, garnish with fresh jalapeno slices letting your guests know this cranberry sauce offers a kick!
