Savour Calgary reader Laura Stewart wrote us practically insisting we try the Caesar salad at The Place Steakhouse in the community of Bowness.
Laura writes the salad is, crisp, flavourful and crunchy with crusty croutons done just right. We know Savour readers have great taste, so we made the trip to The Place to try it for ourselves. And we’re glad we did. Stepping into The Place is like stepping back in time to a 1970s steakhouse complete with wood panelling, plush banquettes, smoky mirrors and warm lighting. While retro in flavour, the finishings are in impeccable shape making this the perfect place to enjoy a Caeser salad. We don’t have much to add to Laura’s description. The dressing is creamy with just a little vinegar tang and it foregoes the traditional anchovies for those who don’t dig fishy notes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and have been there for decades. In fact, this neighbourhood favourite turns 50 next year. We’ll be back for the pizza Laura also recommends.
