WHERE TO EAT FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
Love is in the air and there are several local eateries offering delicious experiences for love day. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with loved ones, Galentine’s Day with friends, a romantic date or some quality time with yourself, there is something for everyone.
Beverages
The Mad Hatter has a couple of Valentine’s drink creations. Their Pink Hot Chocolate is a mixture of house made white chocolate sauce and strawberry syrup topped with coconut whip. Or check out their Chocolate Cheesecake Mocha with a mixture of house made cream cheese chocolate syrup and espresso topped with coconut whip.
Burwood Distillery has an espresso and earrings kit for $99.99 that includes 10mm Petal Sparkle Ball Stud Earrings from Hillberg & Berk and two bottles of Burwood premixed Espresso Martini made with fresh pressed coffee from Phil & Sebastian.
Sweets
Satisfy your sweethearts sweet tooth with treats from Crave Cupcakes. They have five different sweetheart cookies, four different cupcake pack and sandwich cookies. They also have a Bouquet of Roses, an edible arrangement of chocolate and vanilla cake topped with vanilla buttercream.
Sidewalk Citizen Bakery is offering pistachio cruffins every Friday to Sunday for the month of February. They also have a tart sampler which includes Strawberry Champagne, Chocolate Hazelnut, Matcha Blueberry Almond and Banana Bourbon Caramel Meringue.
Mari Bakeshop has a Valentine’s Day menu for those with a sweet tooth. Pre-order roll-cakes, choux, viennoiserie, croissants and more for pick up on Feb. 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Three Course Meals
Moxies is offering a shared appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert trio for two for $95. This special menu is available Feb. 11-14 for dine in only.
If you love Italian food, check out Osteria Chef’s Table 3 course meal for $70 per person. The starter includes either a berry and burrata salad or gamberi toscana. Your choice of mains include seafood or steak. Finish with strawberry cheesecake.
FinePrint opened last fall in the Calgary Herald Block on Stephen’s Avenue. They are celebrating love day by offering a 3 course menu for $69 per person or the regular al carte menu from Feb. 14 – 18. Reservations recommended.
Bistro Novelle has a special fixed menu available Feb. 12, 13 and 14, 4-10 p.m. For$69 per person start with scallop and pork belly or beets and greens, move on to striploin, lobster risotto or Lion’s Mane mushroom risotto. Finish the meal with death by chocolate.
Shoe and Canoe Public House, located in the Delta Hotel in downtown Calgary has a Valentine’s Day meal for $120 per couple. It includes a burrata starter to share, a main and red velvet cake for dessert. Main choices include peking duck and pork belly, beef tenderloin or a spiced cauliflower steak.
Patisserie Du Soleil’s Valentine’s Day dinner offering is $55 per person and includes a starter, main and dessert. Start with pan seared scallops, pick a main (filet mignon, leg of lamb or pan seared salmon) and end with a black raspberry mousse with Chambard. Two seatings are available, 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.
From Feb. 10-14, you can book a three-course meal at Little Chief Restaurant in the Grey Eagle Casino. Enjoy French onion soup or mixed greens salad to start, ravioli stuffed with confit chicken and ricotta, and a sweet white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for $49 per person.
Celebrate your love story at Pat & Betty’s in Victoria Park for $90 per person. First course choices are ahi tuna crudo, beef tartare or pan seared scallops. Second course you can have the crispy pork belly, barley risotto or pan seared scallops. Satisfy your sweet tooth with the chocolate bombe, carrot cake or lemon pudding.
Multi-Course Meals
Modern Steak is featuring Land & Sea, a special 4 course meal for $98 per person on Feb. 14. Appetizers are beef carpaccio or tuna tartare, followed by a choice of Caesar salad or wedge salad. Mains are a 7oz beef filet, 10oz beef striploin, mushroom risotto or pacific snapper. Dinner ends on a sweet note with either chocolate or cheesecake.
This year Koto Sushi Lounge is offering an 8 course dinner for $135 per couple. Enjoy a variety of lobster, uni and sashimi dishes. Reservations are required a minimum of 24 hours prior, from Feb. 13-17.
A special 4 course dinner can be enjoyed at Hawthorn Dining Room for $120 per person from Feb. 10-14. The meal includes shrimp cocktail, burrata or carrot bisque, a choice of main of either sea bass, beef tenderloin or potato gnocchi, ending with strawberry mousse for two. A Valentine’s Day themed afternoon tea for $80 per person includes scones, tea, tea sandwiches, sweets is available Feb. 11-12.
Jane Bond BBQ has two Valentine’s Day options available. Enjoy Crawfish, live music and BBQ at the Urban location for $150 per couple. Tickets include dinner and live music by Rustic Backwoods Blues for two. Option two is a Valentine’s Day dinner box you need only heat and eat, delivered to your door on Feb. 13 for $125.
The Lougheed House is hosting a Galentine’s Day Tea on Feb. 12, 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. for $59.95 per person. Tea includes macarons, strawberry rhubarb financiers, chocolate raspberry craquelin puffs, pistachio, cardamom, rose shortbread and more. Enjoy a four-course dinner in their intimate Victorian dining room on Feb. 14 for $119 per person.
Celebrate love day at Bow Valley Ranche, one of Canada’s top 50 romantic restaurants. A 4 course meal is available on Feb. 14 for $110 per person. Start with a parsnip veloute, then choose from duck confit, endive salad or tuna tataki. The third course features cod, braised beef short ribs or beet ravioli and dessert choices are chocolate creme brulee or a banana passionfruit cremieux.
The menu at Borough + Bar & Grill for Valentine’s Day is curated by Chef De Cuisine Alejandro Buzzalino. Located in the University District, this 4 course dinner is $75 per person. Start with an amuse bouche, choose from halibut and crab cake or soup, move on to the next your with your choice of beef dip, salmon or squash. Finish with molten lava cake for dessert.
