After 25 years, Murrieta’s sets the stage for its next culinary chapter

After serving Calgarians for 25 years, Murrieta’s, located on the second floor of the historic Alberta Hotel building on Stephen Avenue, will close its doors on April 30, 2026. The closure marks the end of an iconic era for one of downtown Calgary’s most beloved dining destinations. Patrons are invited to make a reservation to visit Murrieta’s ahead of its closure. The restaurant will be celebrating its amazing 25-year legacy ahead of its April closure, so Calgarians are encouraged to follow its social media accounts for exciting announcements. The beginning of an inspiring new chapter with the introduction of Alva, a new restaurant concept by the Murietta’s Restaurant Group, is set to open in spring 2026.

Murrieta’s has been a cornerstone of Calgary’s culinary scene since opening in 2001, known for its warm hospitality, elevated food, and timeless atmosphere. The restaurant has hosted everything from milestone celebrations and weddings to business dinners and date nights, becoming a part of the city’s social fabric for over two decades.

Guests are invited to visit Murrieta’s through April 30, 2026, to enjoy a final season of dining, featuring special menus, legacy dishes, and events celebrating the restaurant’s 25-year history.

While the downtown location prepares for transition, Murrieta’s Canmore remains open and continues to welcome guests in the heart of the Rockies. The restaurant group’s other Calgary concept, Borough Bar + Grill in University District, also remains in full operation, serving the same dedication to quality and hospitality that has defined Murrieta’s for decades. Alva, the new concept, will be unveiled in 2026.
