For more than 15 years, Chef Jenny Chan and partner Michael Berg have been creating world-class cuisine from its chic, cozy space on 10th St. N.W. Inspired by the flavours of Italy, France and Spain, Chef Jenny is imaginative and skilled in her execution and this new menu is no exception. From the showstopping duck foie gras with cotton candy through to truffle arancini balls served from a cigar box, the menu never fails to excite and surprise. But the magic of Vero Bistro Moderne goes beyond a flashy presentation. At the heart of Mediterranean cuisine is the quality and freshness of ingredients. We loved the bruschetta, which was fresh, light and infused with a subtle fennel note that made it its own. The 36-month-aged 5J Jamon Iberico De Bellota delighted cured-meat connoisseurs being 100 per cent Iberico, free range and acorn fed. If you’re looking for something to warm you up on a cool autumn evening, the Venetian Seafood Stew is incredible featuring mussels, clams, prawns, calamari and fish in a saffron tomato broth topped with a golden, flaky pastry.
If you’re on a date, we suggest the Signature Seafood Platter for Two featuring mussels, clams, prawns, scallops, two kinds of seasonal fish, calamari, lobster tail and pasta aglio e olio. Pasta lovers can’t miss with the creamy Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and for the tried-and-true steak fanatic, the Steak Frites is truly next level using grilled black angus beef tenderloin topped with a fresh herb butter sauce and served with crispy parmesan frites and lemon aioli.
