Summer On 17th is returning for a second season with all your favourite events. From movies in the park to live bands, theatrical performances, and fitness classes, the 17th Ave BIA (Business Improvement Area) is pulling out all the stops.

‘Theatrical Thursdays’, starting on June 21, is a new event highlighting stage performers and theatre, introducing magician Steve Harmer and improv troupe the 404s from Bravo Circus Studio & Entertainment.

Brazilian Capoeira martial arts, Japanese taiko drumming, Ghanaian cultural demonstrations, Ukrainian dance, and more will take to the stage showcasing the vast diversity and multiculturalism in our city.

Don’t miss Canada Day July 1st in Tompkins Park with live music, line dancing, acrobats, and theatrical performers. And then on to Calgary Stampede Week! Celebrate with live music daily featuring Ronnie Kerr, The Frontiers and Brandon Lorenzo, along with outdoor screenings of classic westerns and a brunch commemorating 100 Years of Stampede Breakfasts!

Best weekend ever! Big Music Fridays will feature local bands; each Saturday will delight with a blast from the past, favourites from the 70s and 80s; Sunday will challenge you with a high intensity sweat session, yoga class or round of boxing brought to you One on One Personal Fitness, League, Goodlife Gym and Rumble Boxing. This stellar weekend wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one of the many, many fantastic 17th Ave eateries. Wrap things back at Tompkins Park with classical music performed by Shari Chaskin & Jon Day; Barbara King, Anna Pompeeva & Grace King; Steven Klevsky & Manon Mitchell; and Diva’s Opera.

Old-school westerns, cult classics, timeless faves and superhero flicks – the second weekend of each month will bring you movie night in Tompkins Park with dinner from your favourite 17th Ave eatery a la cart.
