Picklefest comes to Calgary

Canada’s Biggest Pickle Festival comes to one of Canada’s Top Food Cities

On Saturday, August 29, Dished presents Picklefest, Canada’s premier pickle celebration, hosted by Big Rock Brewery. The one-day, all-ages festival will feature more than 40 local vendors, interactive experiences, tastings, live music and plenty of pickle-inspired surprises. Picklefest invites both dedicated pickle lovers and the pickle-curious to immerse themselves in Canada’s most dill-irious food festival.

Picklefest pushes the briny boundaries not just for pickles, but all things fermented. From sourdough and kimchi to kombucha and craft beverages, the festival showcases the creativity and craftsmanship behind some of Canada’s most exciting fermented foods and drinks, as well as a pickle-twist on classic fair foods. Picklefest partners with beloved local brands to create a pickle take on their classic items, showcasing and selling a variety of fermented products to tempt any taste bud.

Picklefest is calling upon pickling aficionados with their home pickling showdown, “Show us your Pickle”, sponsored by Putter’s Pickles. Home preservers and fermentation enthusiasts are invited to compete for cash prizes, bragging rights, and eternal pickle fame in the following categories:

• Best Dill (Vinegar-Based)
• Best Kosher (Naturally Fermented)
• Best Spicy (Any Style)
• Most Creative – Vinegar
• Most Creative – Lacto-Ferment
• Best in Show

Whether attendees are entering the competition, sampling their way through the vendor market, or simply embracing their inner pickle fanatic, Picklefest promises a one-of-a-kind experience packed with flavour, fun and community.

Guests are encouraged to arrive in their best pickle-themed attire because, at Picklefest, everyone is a Big Dill!
