
Calgary restaurants are embracing the art of the tasting menu, giving guests a chance to experience food in its most expressive form.
Here are some of the city’s top spots to try one in 2025.

Tasting menus are built to surprise and delight, offering a progression of courses that highlight technique, creativity and peak-season ingredients. From delicate bites of sushi to rich prairie flavours, these curated experiences invite diners to slow down and savour each moment.

Le Petit Chef at The Dorian

Le Petit Chef delivers a four-course dinner paired with an interactive 3D projection show above your table, offering two menu options including vegetarian. The experience runs Wednesday through Sunday at Bistro Novelle; reservations are recommended. Price is about $129 per person.
Ryuko
13200 Macleod Trail
Sushi Jun at Ryuko has an omakase tasting menu at their South location that is offered on the weekends. Their lunch omakase has two seatings on Saturdays and Sundays and includes 3 seasonal appetizers, 7 pieces of chef’s choice nigiri, temaki, prawn butter miso soup and dessert, all for $65. Their dinner omakase is offered from Friday to Sunday with two seatings on each day with various pricing for different experiences. Their classic is a 17-course menu showcasing signature flavours for $130. For an elevated 20-course journey featuring peak-season ingredients, choose their Signature for $160 — and for something even more luxurious, experience their Reserve for $200 which includes a 22-course meal.
Teatro

Teatro Ristorante has provided Calgarians with an elevated dining experience for the past 30 years. They offer a 5-course tasting dinner menu for $135 with optional wine pairings for $75 per person or premium pairings for $175 per person. Full table participation is required.
The Wilde
525 5th Avenue SW, 27th Floor
The Wilde’s chef’s tasting menu is $175 per person for 11 courses including an amuse bouche, fish, beef, duck, and a selection of sweet treats. Add a wine tasting for $125 per person which includes five selected wines paired with the meal. Enjoy dinner 27 floors up at The Wilde.
River Café
25 Prince’s Island
River Café, well known for seasonal ingredients from local purveyors, is situated right in the heart of Prince’s Island Park. They offer a 5-course tasting menu at dinner for $120 and wine pairings are available at an additional cost. This lovely meal comes with complimentary Highwood Crossing Red Fife sourdough bread with house-churned butter and Vancouver Island sea salt.
Nupo
631 Confluence Way SE
Nupo offers a six seat omakase sushi bar experience. Their tasting menu comes with up to 5 seasonal snacks, and up to 15 pieces of nigiri sustainably sourced from around the world — including rare imports from Japan alongside Canada’s finest seafood, such as Newfoundland uni, PEI bluefin tuna, and New Brunswick sturgeon caviar. The meal also includes a butter roasted miso soup and dessert. The omakase is $165 per person with a premium sake pairing for $95.00.
Rouge
1240 8th Avenue S.E.
Rouge’s farm, garden, and forage-to-table experience begins with the best ingredients, some of which come straight from their on-site garden. Their Gathered and Foraged chef’s menu has 6 courses for $120 with an optional wine pairing available for $75.
Deane House

Set in historic Inglewood, Deane House offers a five-course chef’s tasting menu every Sunday for $75 per person. The menu changes frequently to highlight seasonal prairie ingredients, paired with the restaurant’s thoughtful wine list.
Gatsby’s

Gatsby’s in an ultra-fine dining experience located in The Oliver. Their set tasting menu celebrates Canadian and globally inspired cuisine. You can choose from a 6-course or a 9-course tasting menu as well as a 6-course vegetarian option. The set menu ranges from $180 to $240 per person.
Calcutta Cricket Club

Taste of Calcutta is a three-course tasting menu available in-house that showcases West Bengal-inspired curries, small plates and flavourful accompaniments, including naan, chutneys and seasonal curries. Vegetarian substitutions are available and full table participation is required. Price is around $55 per person for the tasting menu.
Hawthorn

The Hawthorn Dining Room resides in the elegant Fairmont Palliser Hotel and offers a couple of different tasting menus. Their 2-course experience highlights the freshest regional flavours for $60 person with an optional wine pairing for $30. They also offer a 4-course menu crafted with tastes of the prairies. The 4-course option is $85 with an optional wine pairing for $45.
