It’s common to think that most places close on Christmas, however, there are numerous options available.
Whether you want to skip cooking and enjoy a nice meal out or prefer to order in and savour your food by the fire, here are some of the best local dining options this Christmas.

DINING IN
Yellow Door Bistro is offering a daytime buffet as well as an evening buffet on Christmas day. Their daytime buffet runs from 9am to 2pm and is $50 per person and features confit Turkey Eggs Benedict, a decadent Seafood Tower, Orange Ricotta Crepes, a selection of salads and a holiday dessert station. Enjoy a glass of house brewed eggnog, with or without a little extra Christmas cheer.
Their dinner buffet is from 4pm to 9:30pm at $85 per person and features Lobster Bisque, warm fresh baked rolls, a selection of salads, a decadent Seafood Tower, Confit Turkey Bread Pudding, Confit Fingerling Potatoes, Pomme Puree, Herb Brined Turkey Breast, Cheese, Charcuterie and Crudité with accompaniments and a sweet finish with a holiday dessert station.
The Fairmont Palliser Hotel has a number of options for Christmas day in the Hawthorn Dining Room. A 3-course Yuletide Lunch can be enjoyed for $55 per person and includes parsnip soup, roasted turkey breast with confit leg stuffing, turkey gravy, yam puree and glazed carrots as well as sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.
Stay the afternoon for the Palliser’s afternoon tea at $95 per person. This includes a selection of Fairmont curated teas, vanilla scones with house made jam and cream, a selection of tea sandwiches and a selection of sweets which includes macarons, cheesecakes and tarts.
A 3-course Yuletide Dinner is also available for $80 per person. This includes parsnip and pear salad, roasted turkey breast with all the fixings or tomato pesto pasta topped with a pine nut and goat cheese gremolata. Finish it off on a sweet note with sticky toffee pudding.
Glenmore Inn & Convention Centre
Glenmore Inn & Convention Centre is offering a Christmas Dinner Buffet by reservation only with two seating times – 4pm and 5:30pm. Adults are $65, Seniors over 65 $60, Youth (11-17) $60.00 and Children (4-10) $25.00. The buffet features a carvery with prime rib or roasted turkey. Entrees include pork loin, herb and onion dressing, rice, potatoes and vegetables. Chilled seafood is also being offered, including shrimp, mussels, salmon and sushi. There are also plenty of salads and desserts to keep you full and satisfied.
Thomsons Kitchen and Bar has a Christmas Day Buffet Extravaganza. Seating varies from 12pm to 6pm and the buffet is priced at $145 for adults, $73 for children 6-12 and free for kids 5 and under. Your meal starts off with a warm drink, either apple cider or hot chocolate. Their action stations include a shucked oyster bar and a smores station. Their carving station features prime rib, whole roasted pig and traditional roast turkey. Their main entrees include sole, bison short rib, leg of lamb and vegetable biryani. They also have a salad bar, a fish and seafood station, a dim sum station along with soup and bread. Other items include charcuterie, cheeses, crackers and a dessert station.
Grey Eagle Resort and Casino has a Traditional Christmas Lunch Buffet for $21.99 from 11am to 2:30pm. Their prime rib dinner is being offered from 4:30pm to 10pm for $32.99. They are taking no reservations for these dining options and you must be 18+.
DINNER TO GO
Carriage House Inn has dinner to go for $325 for 5-6 people and $450 for 11-12 people. Dinner includes roasted turkey, herb dressing, classic turkey gravy and cranberry sauce. All meals also include market salad with balsamic dressing, Brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, creamy mashed potatoes, fresh dinner rolls and for dessert, apple pie or Christmas cake loaf.
Fairmont Palliser Hotel is offering Turkey To-Go. Their package includes turkey, classic sides, sourdough bread and butter and a yule log for dessert. They also offer optional wine pairings. Their small turkey serves 4 for $330, medium turkey serves 8 for $510 and their large bird serves 15 for $780.
Delta Hotels by Marriott, Calgary South
Delta Hotels offers a Turkey To Go meal for $275 for 4 to 6 people. The menu includes fresh buns, beet salad, truffled mushroom bisque along with a half turkey and all the fixings. A chocolate ganache tart to end on a sweet note is also part of the package. You can add a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Brut for $100.
Hotel Blackfoot is offering a Christmas Carve-A-Deal for $425. This includes a 13-pound turkey for 8-10 people along with dinner rolls, Caesar salad, a variety of vegetables, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Apple crumble and sugar cookies round out the meal.
Hotel Arts is offering turkey dinner for $68 per person. The menu includes mini sour dough loaves, roasted winter squash soup, roasted turkey breast with stuffing and potatoes and for dessert, eggnog cheesecake.
