BRING CASH

While most vendors now accept debit or credit, cash is still king at many stalls, especially with smaller producers or during outdoor pop-up markets where Wi-Fi can be spotty. Having a few bills on hand makes transactions smoother and helps ensure you don’t miss out on that loaf of sourdough or bunch of just-picked carrots.

BRING REUSABLE BAGS

A sturdy tote or two goes a long way at the market. Many vendors don’t provide bags, and bringing your own helps reduce waste and avoid juggling armfuls of produce and jars. If you plan to shop big or pick up heavier items like honey or preserves, consider a backpack or even a small market cart.

ARRIVE EARLY

If you’re after the freshest produce, small-batch baked goods, or popular artisan items, it pays to get there early. The best selection often goes quickly, and early visits mean you can shop at a relaxed pace before the crowds roll in. Bonus: parking is usually easier, too.
