Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farms
Located north of Calgary, near Carstairs, Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farms is owned by Kris Vester (who grew up on the land) and his wife Tamara Vester. They launched their online store and delivery service in March 2020 as the pandemic kicked off but their farm business dates back to 1998 when they began selling to Calgary restaurants and at markets.
Offerings vary depending on what’s in season but you’ll find everything from their locally raised pork to kale, eggs, yogurt, bread, butter, apples, you name it. “The farm-fresh eggs sell out every week and fresh greens of any kind are always very popular,” says Tamara.
They grow and raise most stuff themselves but also sell from fellow producers in Alberta and B.C., including Highwood Crossing and Vital Green Farms. “We have great partnerships with many local producers from Alberta and B.C., but most notably with our friends at Honest Food Farm in Cawston, B.C.,” Tamara says. “Our friendship and business relationship goes back almost 20 years!”
