Kensington Wine Market presents Rare & Old Whisky Weekend
Calgary’s Kensington Wine Market is proud to present its first-ever Rare & Old Whisky Weekend, a one-of-a-kind whisky festival featuring only rare and old whiskies. The festival will take place at Kensington Wine Market over Friday and Saturday, September 20 – 21.
Kicking off the weekend are a range of a la carte Master Classes, each limited to roughly 20 participants, taking place during the afternoons of both September 20 and 21. These classes will feature a range of whiskies from brands such as Benromach, Glenlivet, Gordon & MacPhail and more.
The weekend’s main event, The Rare & Old Whisky Festival, held on Friday evening, September 20, will allow attendees to sample from a range of 36 whiskies aged between 30 and 48 years of age, with some rare bottlings valued at more than $15,000. Each festival ticket also includes a take-home cut crystal glass and gourmet food to compliment the whisky samples.
Rounding out the Rare & Old Whisky Weekend is a Gordon & MacPhail Closed Distilleries Grand Tasting, held on Saturday evening with host Richard Urquhart. Participants will sample a range of exceptional bottlings from the Recollections Series, with a collective age of roughly 300 years, which retail at more than $30,000.
