Calgary's Guide to Soup

Soup is one of the most versatile dishes in Calgary, showing up in markets, restaurants and specialty shops across the city.

Our soup guide gathers places where you can sit down for a bowl, grab takeout or stock up for later.

Soup is the ultimate comfort food equalizer. It crosses cultures, satisfies cravings, and somehow tastes better when someone else makes it. Calgary’s soup scene reflects this beautifully, offering everything from slow-simmered bone broths and creamy chowders to spicy laksa and traditional borscht.

Looking for a quick lunch? A warming dinner? Freezer stock for busy weeks? The city has options that go far beyond canned classics. These spots take soup seriously, building flavour through long simmers, fresh ingredients, and recipes passed down or perfected over decades. Some focus on dietary needs, others on bold spice, and a few simply nail the classics so well you’ll wonder why you ever bothered making it yourself.
