Ronan Le Guen and Isabelle Mahjoub opened the shop after moving from France in 2022, pairing their baking program with specialty coffee from Monogram.

Choux & C

Ronan Le Guen and Isabelle Mahjoub moved from France to Calgary with their children in 2022, drawn by the city’s quality of life and proximity to the Rockies. The husband-and-wife team launched Choux & C earlier this year, focusing on French cream puffs alongside traditional pastries and specialty coffee from Monogram Coffee. Le Guen, a self-taught baker and former engineer, leads the baking program, while Mahjoub draws on experience from Calgary’s coffee scene through her earlier work with Monogram. Their menu centres on choux à la crème with rotating flavours, alongside chouquettes, savoury gougères and gougère sandwiches. Classic French pastries like croissants, pain au chocolat, kouign-amann and quatre-quarts, are all made in-house. Flavours range from classics like raspberry and lemon to combinations such as milk chocolate with tonka bean and mandarin with calamansi. Located in the walkable Marda Loop neighbourhood where the family first settled, it’s a delicious way to experience a bit of France in Calgary.
