Herrera will oversee kitchen operations across all Modern Steak locations.

Modern Group, owner and operator of Modern Steak, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chef Rogelio Herrera as Director of Culinary. This marks a significant step in the group’s continued evolution of culinary leadership and long-term vision. Colombian-born and firmly established in Calgary, Chef Herrera is a highly respected figure in the city’s culinary community, bringing decades of experience across fine dining, restaurant leadership and ownership. His career includes influential roles at The Wildwood and Teatro, followed by his time as co-owner and chef of Alloy, a restaurant widely recognized for its ingredient-driven cuisine and lasting impact on Calgary’s dining scene.
In his new role, Chef Herrera will oversee culinary strategy, menu development and kitchen operations across the Modern Group portfolio. His focus will be on elevating execution, strengthening kitchen culture and ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience across all Modern Steak locations, while continuing to highlight premium Alberta beef at the core of the brand.
