Shish Tawook (also spelled tawouk or taouk) is a traditional marinated chicken dish, popular in Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s made by cubing chicken breasts or boneless thighs, marinating, skewering and grilling until done. The marinade is made with garlic, lemon juice, yogurt and a combination of spices. Spices can vary per household, but will always pack a punch. Serve with sliced onion, tomatoes, hummus, garlic sauce (toum), fattoush salad, and fresh pita or naan bread.
