AMEN TO GREAT FOOD

Walking into Sidewalk Citizen’s new restaurant in Central Memorial Park is almost like walking into a temple. Sun streams through lofty latticed ceilings onto reverent diners. Gothic-shaped windows line the west wall and two gas fireplaces keep the space cozy. There’s much to celebrate on this menu that venerates the foods and flavours of Israel. We indulged in three mezze plates including whipped labneh, tahini and za’atar butter with sidewalk’s famed sourdough, and a beautiful cucumber and raw barramundi ceviche. We also shared the baharat-braised bison which was so fragrant and beautifully plated with vibrant peppers, mint and couscous. This meal was one of our favourites of 2019 and we can’t wait to go back for what is becoming one of the city’s favourite brunches.
