Founded by Corey Ma, a passionate baker with a background in transportation engineering, Ma Pies offers a unique selection of both sweet and savoury pies. The idea for pocket pies originated by observing Calgarians spending significant time commuting and wondering how they could benefit from convenient, delicious meal options. Ma Pies started selling at farmers’ markets, making its pies with high-quality ingredients, including butter for a flaky and tender crust. The menu features a variety of flavours, including Chicken Mornay and Peach Almond Galette, as well as unique creations inspired by Ma’s travels. Pies can be purchased online or at various farmers’ markets and events throughout the year. Products are also available at Apple Lady in Oakridge. Ma says he hopes to open a bricks-and-mortar location and expand his product line soon.
