Yum Bakery is a family-owned business with two locations in Calgary. Owners Debbie and David Catling started the bakery at the Calgary Farmers’ Market in 2009 back when it was still located in the Currie Barracks. David spent time at the San Francisco Baking Institute developing his craft before returning to Calgary and hiring a team to help run the bakery. Each item in the bakery is baked from scratch, by hand, the old-fashioned way using local whole ingredients and no fillers. A recent expansion to 17th Ave. S.W. allowed them an opportunity for a sit-down bistro in the front and takeout bakery in the back. They also operate Jarred in the Calgary Farmers’ Market, a sweet-treat shop with an assortment of individual sized desserts served in jars. Cute right?
