The Ramen Library

A playful ramen spot in Olds is putting diners in charge of their own bowl.

At The Ramen Library, guests choose their noodles, add toppings and vegetables, and build a customized bowl cooked in minutes.

The Ramen Library

Ramen is worth a road trip when it’s this fresh and fun. Sisters Ruby Bantasan and Arlene Lee are the creators and co-owners of The Ramen Library in Olds, Alberta, north of Calgary. This build-your-own ramen experience opened in late 2025; diners choose from a massive wall of brightly coloured packages. Then they select toppings and vegetables, and, using the eatery’s speedy cookers, they can either prepare their own or have it prepared for them.

“The Ramen Library is more than just a place to eat,” says Lee. “It is a warm and welcoming space where the community gathers to enjoy flavourful, thoughtfully prepared ramen.”
