New York-Style Pizza
Add one more item to their resume! Chefs Connie DeSousa and John Jackson, owners of an ever-growing list of Calgary hotspots including CHARCUT Roast House, charbar, the Rooftop Bar @ Simmons, Alley Burger, and Chix Eggshop, have thrown their chef hats into the pizza-making ring. And we couldn’t be happier.
Working out of the kitchen of the Simmon’s Building in the East Village, the duo recently launched Connie and John’s Pizza, providing curbside, or rather, “sidedoor,” pickup of their latest creations. Choose from a traditional 16″ round New York-style pizza with a foldable, hand-spun crust or a 14″ by 10″ square Detroit-style deep dish. Flavours include John’s Pepperoni which is loaded (and we mean loaded!) with pepperoni and San Marzano tomatoes, the Fun Guy with mushrooms and truffle oil, or our personal favourite, the spicy What We Eat with ham, pepperoni and chili peppers.
This may be some of the best pizza Calgary has to offer! Why not make it a picnic by the river? Grab a blanket and head on down to the East Village to see what all the fuss is about (but order ahead, these pies go fast!)
Connie and Johns Pizza is open Thursday-Sunday 4PM-10PM. Order online at connieandjohns.com or call 403-710-2145.
